The metalworking industry in Mexico and Latin America is entering a critical phase. TECMA 2025 confirmed what many had suspected: automation, smart manufacturing, and nearshoring are no longer competitive advantages—they are the bare minimum for survival.

High-precision laser cutting, automated CNC bending, custom-designed industrial racks, and multi-axis Swiss machining are technologies already drawing a line between those scaling up and those being left out of international bids.

One of the most relevant takeaways from the event was the urgency of adopting Industry 4.0. But it’s not enough to purchase new equipment. True transformation requires redesigning processes, upgrading technical talent, and breaking free from organizational inertia. A shortage of specialized personnel, the high cost of digital integration, and internal resistance are holding back hundreds of shops still operating under outdated models.

In contrast, companies that have already invested in automation are reporting productivity increases of up to 30%, a reduction in critical errors, and improvements in traceability.

TECMA also exposed another tectonic shift: regionalization. As the U.S. relocates its supply chain, Mexico is solidifying its role as the key manufacturing hub for the North American market. This demands strict compliance with standards, the ability to scale volume without sacrificing precision, and on-time delivery at record speeds.

In this context, services such as structural design of industrial racks, precision turning for critical components, and specialized heat transfer solutions are in the spotlight for OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers.

The shift has already happened. The challenge now is to rise to the occasion.

At MAPREMEC, we are aligned with this new reality. We offer metalworking solutions with full traceability, precision, and lead times that meet international standards—because in the new industry, there’s only room for suppliers who deliver performance.
